Mens Designer Suits: Elegant Style of the 1920s and Today

With the rise of men's business wear in the late 1920's and 30's mens designer suits became more popular with the fashion forward men of the day.

Probably one of the most famous connoisseurs of men's fashions in the 1920's was Edward The Prince of Wales (or The Duke of Windsor however you prefer to refer to English royalty). Edward became famous for his natty dress, top-quality suits, and impeccable sense of style. (He's the only English royalty I know to have an entire fabric pattern named after him, Prince of Wales Check).

He is personally responsible for changing how modern men dress all over the world, he reintroduced many styles during the 1920's including the Windsor knot, "plus fours" AKA: knickerbockers plus four inches of length, and the Fair Isle sweater.

As mens designer suits have increased in popularity so too have the numbers of companies and shops that make suits. From England to America, and back across the Atlantic to Italy, deciding upon what company to buy your men’s designers suits from can be a frustrating and expensive experience.

3. Do you have the time? Getting a designer suit made takes time? On average it takes an excellent tailor about 40 hours to build a suit from scratch! Do you have the time and patience it's going to take to have your suit made?



4. Do you like to travel? Because unless you live in Rome, London, or New York City, or a major city around the world, getting "the best" men's designer suits probably isn't going to happen in your hometown.

Ultimately, what you will receive is totally worth it!

Ask anyone who has had a custom suit made for them and they will tell you their suit is perfect.

It should be perfect! If you're going to spend that much time, money, and effort getting a mens designer suit made, accept nothing short of perfection.

In a custom suit there should be no flaws in the material or workmanship of the suit. Your shoulders should be perfectly parallel to the ground and your trousers should drape perfectly.

In almost all men's clothing shops worth their salt, they will keep your personal measurements so you won't have to go through the entire fitting process again the next time you buy men's designer suits.

Getting a quality dress shirt is key to fleshing out your look. Most men's shops will have a great selection of shirts to choose from. Don't scrimp here because a thousand dollar suit can be undone by a shoddy dress shirt.
