Discounted Broadway Tickets Aren't Too Hard To Find

Finding discounted Broadway tickets is not as hard as you might think.

A Scene From

"Broadway Baby Dolls" (1929)
So you've decided you want to go to a Broadway Show. . . congratulations! Broadway is one of the funnest and most entertaining experiences one can have with your clothes on--but it can be very expensive to experience Broadway the right way.

With tickets running anywhere from $100 to upwards of $500, finding the tickets that are easy on your wallet especially if you're going with a group, while still getting good seats can be difficult.

Here are my top strategies for finding the best discounted Broadway tickets for yourself and your family.

A strategy I have used with great success in getting cheap Broadway tickets in the past is being very flexible about which show I want to see.

For several years I really wanted to see Chicago The Musical. You can probably guess why I always wanted to see Chicago since I've built an entire website around the 1920's. Tickets were very expensive especially for a college student.

If You Don't Mind Being Flexible About Which Show You See. . .

Pick several you'd like to see. You can usually save between 25-50% by going to one of the two TKTS Booth in Manhattan. You will pay between $50 and $75 a ticket at these booths and they give a wide selection of Broadway shows.

Also, Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets are an option if you don't mind the cluster of people. This is what I'd recommend if you were going to see multiple shows over several days and still needed to stay within a budget. Usually, you can pick up SRO tickets for less than 30 bucks making them very economical. (This is how I finally got to see Chicago The Musical. . . it was amazing!)

Rush tickets are also available the day of a show, sometimes you can find some amazing deals. Usually these are limited to students or seniors, but you never know if you don't ask.

If you're someone that wants to have your tickets in hand before you get to New York. . .

I recommend signing up to several of the online Broadway ticket newsletters several weeks before your trip. Check out the recommended webpages below, they are the best companies I've found for good reputation, deep discounts, and seat availability.

The newsletters send out advance discounted Broadway tickets; you can find some very surprising deals and very good seats to most of the popular Broadway shows. They also sometimes have promotional packages for dinner and a show. Broadway has some amazing restaurants too.

At times online ticket brokers are not the easiest to work with as sources for tickets (sometimes the customers service is a little lacking) but there are several that are very good.

If you find these tips helpful, saw an amazing show (or a bad one), sat next to a famous person, have a cool or funny Broadway story to share, or have some Broadway tips of your own you'd like me to post on this page.

I really hope this information helps in your search to find discounted Broadway tickets.
