It's amazing how popular Art Deco prints remain even 80 years after the original images were created.

Art Deco Print Jeune Fille Vert Tamara Lempicka: "Jeune Fille Vert"

It's likely you arrived on this page via a search engine like Google or Yahoo. There are thousands of people just like you searching for art deco images and art deco posters to decorate their homes, dorm rooms, and offices.

Historians argue the Art Deco movement started in or around 1925 and lasted into the early 1940s. Some say the movement started much earlier, right at the turn of the century. I think it started earlier, but Art Deco became very popular in the 1920s.

The fact is that it isn't referred to as the "Art Deco Movement" until the 1960s. in retrospect, you can see the profound influence the movement had in architecture, fashion, and art.

Just look at Manhattan, both the Chrysler Building and The Empire State Building have Art Deco spires that point toward the heavens.

Marked by elegant geometric shapes, combined with the "primitive" art styles of Africa, ancient Egypt, and Aztec Mexico, Art Deco became popular worldwide after the end of World War One.

Many historians give credit to the war for inspiring artists to infuse their work with both the fragmented nature of Cubist designs with the luxurious trappings of Orientalism, and the cutting-edge of the avant-garde.
